Hiker Rescue Story

I am sure I am not going to do this story justice but will do my best.  Yesterday a hiker who goes by the trail name Full Throttle and his wife whose trail name is Heebeegeebee came upon a collapsed tarp like tent.  They stopped to investigate and found a sixty-ish year old weekend hiker in deep hypothermia.  The man was shirtless and lying on the ground.  His hands were completely clenched, lips blue, totally unresponsive, unconscious.

This guy was literally within minutes of death.  Full Throttle and his wife immediately pitched their tent and put the unconcious hiker in it.  Full Throttle did what he had too, he stripped down and put his body against the downed hikers while his wife heated water bottles which they placed at all of the unconcious mans arterial points, under arms, chest and legs.

They managed to revive him and called the rescue squad which was able to reach them via an access road.  Naturally Caffeinated, a friend from the Appalachian Trail came by about two hours later and Heebeegeebee flagged him down.  Nat Caf said by the time he got there the guy was out of serious danger and that Full Throttle and his wife totally saved the mans life.

The Sheriff's department invited all the hikers to go swimming last night in an outdoor heated pool because of what Full Throttle and Heebeegeebee did.

Today the man who was saved came by the Mostel with his wife to thank the couple that saved him.  His wife broke down upon hearing the story.  She had no idea how close her husband had come to death.  It was very touching.

I tried to get Full Throttle to tell the story on video but I think he is feeling very humble.  This was some serious stuff and I totally understand his reluctance to want to tell the story on video so you will have to rely on my talking for him and his wife.  Truly real trail hero's!
