No over the road so far, just local deliveries.  Hopefully will be going out of state this week

Over the Road

Starting my Over the Road training on Monday. Look forward to posting from sites all over the country. It's going to be very interesting, kind of like life on the trail. Look to be out on the road three to four weeks at a time.

Will build up my war chest for the Pacific Crest and Continental divide. Timeline for hitting the PCT looks to be spring 2013. I need to get at least a year of driving experience under my belt before heading out and that pushes my departure date to May of 2013 heading North Bound.

Age is a factor so that start date is set in stone. Got to hit these big trails before my body goes Kaput!

Road Trip: 8094.8 Miles, 15 Days

Well, it was a hell of an adventure, saw a lot of fantastic sites from one end of the country to the other.  Time to rest up some, reload the war chest and plan out a new adventure.

There is still the PCT and Continental Divide to tackle as well as some new approaches.  I saw many people out west touring by bicycles with saddlebags and pulling little trailers as well. 

There is also the sailboat option and of course the motorcycle tour.  Much to contemplate.

Came across this geological feature in Washington State off I-90 on my way to Seattle.  Decided Montana was to crowded and expensive.  I guess there is no escaping civilization.  When I hit Seattle I'll flip a coin, heads, Alaska, tails, L.A.

Took these while speeding through the waste lands on rt 287 out of Dallas.  Very hot, very dry.  Saw a bunch of oil wells as well.  ;) 

New Adventure

Well I've been sitting around on my ever expanding big fat butt for a month now. The foot is healing up but still not one hundred percent so there will be no long distance hiking in the immediate future.

What I am going to do is drive up to Montana following as closely as possible the Continental Divide. This will be a recon of the Divide. I plan on taking my time and seeing what sites I can. Will post updates to the blog as I see fit.

Departure date is July 5th. I will be leaving from Florida. This should be an interesting adventure with all the fires, floods and droughts plaguing the midwest. I plan on ending the trip at Kalispell, Montana. If the foot is up to it by then I will hike Glacier National Park.

Theses aren't the most exciting pictures but it is where I stopped South Bound on November 8th, 2010.  I just walked North Bound to it from Springer, GA.   Route 60 in Virginia.
